TEMPLATE So you want to create your own skin for your persona? The BMP File In your favorite art package you should create a bmp file called persona.bmp and save it into your vulcan-portal-private folder which can be found in your main VulcanSoftware folder . The bmp file must be 128 by 128 in size and in 256 colors. Once the above has been accomplished simply click the Use Private Skin button from within your Portal's Persona Panel, if anything is wrong with your bmp file your guide will soon tell you, on the other hand if it meets all specifications then your persona will already be using that skin. This enabling and disabling process is quite handy, as it means you can leave your Portal running whilst working on your bmp file within your art package. Any changes to the bmp file should be saved then a quick disable and enable of the Use Private Skin button from within the Portal will reload that bmp file and instantly show the changes of your skin which is now wrapped onto your 3d persona. Color Limitations 256 colors is not really good for creating original artwork as many art packages only offer smudge and blend functionality in 16 million colors or more, for this reason we suggest that your skin should be created in 16 million colors and when you are happy with it ask your art package to reduce the bmp file to 256 colors before saving. Templates Be warned that creating an original skin that looks great, is a very hard thing to do, it takes Vulcan Artists about 6 hours to end up with one of the default skins so our advise to any budding skin creator is to be patient, take as long as you need and most of all enjoy yourself! If it's not fun then don't do it! :) If desired, you could load in one of the Portals default skins into your art package and play around with those. You may need to right mouse button click on this and choose save to location persona.bmp
